Originally designed by BDP on behalf of WYCA, Enjoy Design were appointed by Willmott Dixon Interiors to develop the Stage 3 proposals including the Stage 4 technical design and delivery on site.
The scheme included the refurbishment of the existing bus station concourse and comprehensive renewal of the finishes, lighting, wayfinding, street furniture and real time passenger information. The existing Travel Centre and drivers accommodation was also reconfigured to improve accessibility.
Externally, new entrance canopies were introduced which complimented the wider aesthetic upgrades including fluted concrete cladding, glazing and signage. Improvements were made to the building approach with upgrades to the existing ramps, stairs and lighting helping to create an inclusive environment for all. The bus station remained operational throughout the duration of the works.
