Enjoy Design were appointed by longstanding client Thornhill Estates to undertake the full design and delivery of 10 new dwellings and a modern office building at the site in rural Huntingdonshire, just north of St Neots. The site was a former farm with smalholding that had been redundant for 10 years and represented the opportunity to repurpose a rural brownfield site.
The material palette was carefully selected to respect the rural character of the village and included flemish bond brickwork, feather edge oak cladding and pantile roofs to further strengthen the local distinctiveness in Offord D'Arcy. A series of new terrace houses along High Street represent a contemporary rural cottage with the larger detached homes being of a barn dwelling style.
The landscaping scheme was sensitively designed to respect the local vernacular and further enhance the setting of the buildings. The scheme includes estate rail fencing and a range of carefully selected local species to enhance the biodiversity offer.
